Hi ❣ It’s so nice to see you,- like always 😊 I hope all is fine with you, and that you had a great Christmas evening, – like we had 🎄 🧡
It became a #great #Christmas evening yesterday with #good #food, good and #funny #entertainment and a lots of #laughter 😊. We are a bit good to laugh when we are together, – my children and me,- something I’m very #grateful for 🧡.
Yesterday was our first, or actually second one,- but this time with a bit more Norwegian #homemade Christmas food, and a bit more Spanish inspired #traditions too. Christmas #celebration in my home. A Christmas celebration that easily can became a good tradition 😊. We see what next year brings 😊. It’s was anyway a “Christmas celebration to remember with good memories” 🥰.
Like I have #mention before we have a lots of good #memories together, me and my children,- and most of them makes us laugh when we mimic and share it with others, something we can have a bad habit to do 😅. And as you know too,- we like to #play #Buzz,- and that’s makes us laugh as well 😅.
I did invited 9 person for this Christmas evening, so we could has been 10 person ,- and 3 did come 😊. My daughter, my #son in the middle, and his #friend, Amir, and yes,- #me 😊. I knew we would be 4 person for this evening good time in the front,- so it was not a “bad surprise” that we “suddenly” was 4 around “the table” and not 10 😊.
Some of the invited guests needed to work and some was so lucky that they got family visits from Norway, and some got an other offer where to celebrate the Christmas evening 😊. But I did send them all good thoughts and I hope they all had as great time as we did 🧡.
So let me take you a bit through our “Norwegian-Spanish inspired Christmas- evening” 🎄 😊.
Like I have told you,- the Spanish ones normally don’t give each other gifts at Christmas evening (they in general do this the 5. or 6. of January) ,- so that was one “#inspiration” from Spain 😊. We didn’t have any gifts yesterday 🎁. The next one, – we do actually live and work in #Spain 😊. And the third one,- we did have “#entertainment” too, like many #family has with different kinds of games, table- games or entertainment in form of different fun “party-competitions” on the Christmas-evening. We did choose to play Buzz 🎮. And the fourth one,- we had a glass of #cava with strawberries too before the dinner. And cava is one typical drink with bubbles in Spain 🍾.
And to be #honest, – it’s the first time in my life I have actually served alcohol for the Christmas- evening 😊. I had been served alcohol when I has been invited Christmas celebration to others, but I haven’t served alcohol myself when I have created the Christmas- evening in my home. I’m not use to it 😊.
#Imagine that 😊. I have not been #growing up with alcohol for Christmas, something I’m actually very #grateful for 🧡- and to be honest, one more time 😅,- I m very grateful for that- that I have no #experience with drunk adults around the Christmas- table as a child. That means,- my children has also not been growing up with drunk adults around the Christmas-table either 🧡.
Misunderstand me correctly, – but there’s to many children that’s not looking forward to Christmas at all,- just because of the alcohol the adults drinks. Just a tiny remember for giving the children some great Christmas memories – without the alcohol 😊. I don’t mind if people/ adults want to have a glass or two of wine to the food- but for to many adults has not just one or two glasses of wine in the Christmas-time ….. but this one was on the “sideline” for our Christmas celebration yesterday 😊.
The #Norwegian inspiration yesterday was, – well all 4 of us are from Norway,- even from the same area in #Norway too 😊. And we did have Norwegian, traditional Christmas dinner, dessert and cakes/ cookies 😊.
And for Amir,- it was his first Norwegian (/ Spanish) Christmas too yesterday 😊. He has been growing up with the muslims religion with his family in Norway 😊. And they don’t celebrate the Christmas evening. I’m very #happy he got a #good first #experience for his first Norwegian/ Spanish Christmas celebration yesterday in my home and it became #successful too 💝.
Let’s start with the Christmas- dinner
The photo in the middle is the rutabaga,- made by boiled cabbage rabbit and some carrots, mixed with pepper. Then it’s the other vegetables we had. Normally it should also be served something called sauerkraut and red cabbage,- but since it’s just me that eat this I did drop that one this time. It was still a lots of tasty vegetables like carrots, potatoes, red onion, apples, advocate, prunes and Brussels sprouts 😊.
Then it was the meat,- pork ribs (Amir eat pork,- he is not practicing Islam 😊,- I did ask him before I made the dinner 😊).
First I did have the mest in my fridge with some different spices on for around a day so it should give a great taste to the meat,- and it did 😊.
Befor I put the meat in the oven I put spices and water under the meat. This is to make a tasty gravy for the sauce- #homemade #sauce to the meat 😊.
Closely before the meat is finish I take out the long pan and strain the gravy into a saucepan. Cook with flour and milk mixed in, or cream until the sauce is suitably thick.
I have in the fridge for a day first eith different spices on. I use pepper, ginger, orange, paprika, a little salt, bay leaf and cloves. All in water.
And then,- preheat the oven to 230 degrees. Place aluminum foil under the ribs, and place a tiny plate under the rib too, then place the ribs in the middle of the oven for about 30 minutes until the swab “blows” up a bit and the swab breaks. This makes it’s crispy.
Then, remove the aluminum foil, but leave the plate on. Reduce the temperature to 200 degrees, put the rib back into the oven, and allow the rib to fry for about 1 1/2 hours.
Let the #rib “rest” a bit before cutting up in slices.
We did have more then enough food yesterday, – and that was also a part of #my #plan,- so my children could get some “#leftovers” with them for today or another day 😊.
The Christmas- table is ready with some #decorations and candles 😊. And ready for the celebration with tasty and traditional Norwegian Christmas- food,- as well as for great and good #conversations 🥰.
The homemade Christmas cakes and cookies, and the dessert.
I have already shared this #recipes with you 😊.
And then,- after the dinner and dessert it was time for some Christmas cakes and cookies, – and “the entertainment” 😊 🎮.
Candles can give a bit “heat” in the livingroom,- and when I was cleared of the table, and before “the entertainment with Buzz” started, the young people vented a little outside in the patio. And Mathilde, – my #daughter, – because she had obviously eat a bit to much,- #manage to break one of the chairs when she sat her butt down in the #chair 😅. And we all got a good laugh 😅.
It’s actually not the first chair she manage to do this with, to break when she sits her butt down 😅. And she is actually a tiny, little sweet girl with a nice, little butt 😊. So how she manage to do this,- I have no idea 😅.
It was a #great #Christmas evening and #celebration,- my and our #best one since the Christmas in 2010 in Norway and at the Prairie ,- and the best one in Spain so fare 🥰. The second best during this last 6 years in Spain was in 2017 together with Natasja and her family 😊. Also there is was a lots of good, homemade traditional Danish Christmas food,- and a lots of laughter and good conversations 😊.
I like that, – good food, good conversations and a good laughter and two as well together with a great #company as family and great friends 😊.
Yesterday’s Christmas celebration was just great 🧡.
And,- Yes me,- outside in the patio yesterday,- and,- This #photo is an #perfect and #incredible #good #expression, #illustration and #description how our #Christmas #celebration and #evening was yesterday 🥰. The #food was #tasty, the #conversations was #good, the #entertainment was #fun, the #atmosphere was #cozy and with a lots of #laughter 🥰. (ps- jepp,- I know it’s a bit #,- that’s the way it is and needs to be sometimes 😊).
