I like to bake and I like to cook,- and at the moment I’m “working through” my own baking and cooking book,- made by me made for me, many years ago 😊.

My own homemade cooking- and baking book filled up with different Norwegian recipes from both my mammi and my grandmam 😊.

My recipes in my homemade cooking- and baking book are mostly basic, classic and traditional Norwegian recipes, and they are actually a couple of years old too 😊. I have the different recipes from my grandmam and my mam,- so they are used during some years, and are probably not so fancy and trendy as many other recipes there are possible to get from “all over the world” now at days 😊. I think the recipes I’m using are between 40 and 80 years old 😊,- but still possible to make and bake tasty homemade Norwegian food from 😊.

Today, this evening it’s homemade pizza on the menu, made from a very classic and basic Norwegian recipe πŸ•. The boys, my oldest son and his friend, – or they are actually young men, deserve something tasty and homemade after helping me outside at the patio today 😊. So then it is homemade pizza on the menu πŸ•.

By the way, – did you know that is was a housewife and mammi that “created” the pizza to her children, many, many years ago with lefts overs from her fridge? Or that pizza has different histories from different countries and cultures? Some kind of pizza has actually existed since year 700. So it’s a quiet “old fashion” food and recipe with different kinds and ways to use it πŸ•. And today it’s the classic, basic and traditional Norwegian one I’m going to use 😊.

Homemade pizza with a classic and basic Norwegian recipe πŸ•

Pizza dough: 4.5 dl wheat flour, 50 g yeast, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 1/2 tablespoon margarine, 1 1/2 dl lukewarm water or milk.

Dissolve the yeast in (about body temp.) water / milk, then add in salt and margarine.  Stir together and mix with flour.  Knead the dough well and allow it to rise with a towel over it for about 30 min.

Roll out the dough, approx.  a little under 1 cm thick, place it on a baking tray covered with baking paper.  Allow to rise for about 30 min.  with kitchen towel over

Pizza filled: 300 gr minced meat, 2 tablespoons wheat flour, 1 cup milk, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, 1 onion chopped into pieces.  4 tablespoons tomato puree. Mix everything in a frying pan and fry golden and brown.

When the pizza filling is ready, it is cooled.  Then cover the flat pizza dough with the stuffing, sprinkle the oregano over, and finally grate the cheese to taste.  Some like a lot of cheese, while others want a little less cheese.  Put the pizza in the middle of the oven, fry at 250 degrees for about 10- 15 minutes.  The dough has a golden and fine color.

It’s not very complicated to make a basic, classic and traditional Norwegian homemade pizza, but it’s still very tasty πŸ•.

Now at days when I’m using this recipe for making a pizza I also “spice” it up with some garlic and mushrooms,- or other tasty herbs or spices 😊. Maybe even use ham instead of mixed meat , and some pineapples too 😊.
